Mothers

a coloring book

Mothers is a coloring book created in honor of our mother, Dr. Krishna Kakani, and her career as an obstetrician in Huntsville, Alabama. Her passion for the health of mothers and their children began when she was a young girl in India. She followed this passion to become a physician who has now delivered several thousand babies and cared for their mothers. After retiring from obstetrics in 2022, our mom wanted a creative activity for patients that celebrates the unique journey of becoming a mother.

We commissioned Huntsville artist, John ‘Jahni’ Moore to design and illustrate a coloring book that highlights the diversity of pregnancy and motherhood. Jahni’s creativity was further inspired by our mom’s life story and her years of dedication to women’s health. We also asked the community of our mom’s patients, friends, and family for ideas on the content. Inside the book, you will find 40 full page illustrations to represent the 40 weeks of pregnancy.

We are forever grateful to all who were involved in this project. Proceeds from book sales will be donated to organizations focusing on improving maternal and child health both in the U.S. and abroad. We are very excited to share this book with you!
